What do the destruction of the Death Star, the Polyjuice Potion taken by Harry, Ron, and Hermione, and the disaster on Jurassic Park’s Isla Nublar have in common?
While they may seem like completely different worlds, all three contain important lessons about cybersecurity that we can apply in our daily lives. Design flaws, social engineering attacks, blind trust in technology, and the absence of security controls are recurring themes in cinema. In this fun and interactive activity, we’ll explore scenes from various films—in galaxies far, far away, hidden train platforms, and even dinosaur-filled theme parks—to uncover how, often unintentionally, they teach us key principles (and common mistakes) in cybersecurity. All guided by a research team from the Technical University of Madrid (UPM).
