Pilar Vega
About me
Professor of Spanish Literature at the Faculty of Information Sciences at the UCM and coordinator of the Master's Degree in Creative Writing at the UCM. She has directed several national R&D projects on the Promotion of Literary Heritage, and is co-director of two UCM research groups and a member of the research team for 15 projects (four international, nine from the National Plan, and four subsidized by Autonomous Communities). My research has had a dual focus. First, traditional and popular literature: paremiology, traditions and memory, the study of myths and literary themes (Don Quixote, Frankenstein, Macías, Don Juan, Don Miguel de Maraña, etc.), and the genre of short stories and legends. The other aspect has been Creative Writing, especially poetry and short stories. I have taught, given seminars, and doctoral courses, and given lectures at Spanish and international universities: Oxford (UK), Verona (Italy), Orleans (France), Lund (Sweden), Córdoba (Argentina), and Cairo (Egypt).
I have been a Visiting Scholar at the University of Berkeley and a researcher at the Centre de Littérature Comparée at the Sorbonne University. I have supervised eight doctoral theses and 42 Master's theses, DEAs, and internships, and I have supervised two research grants/contracts (FPI Fellowship).
