Amaya Pérez Almenara
About me
My name is Amaya. I studied both my undergraduate and master’s degrees in Granada, and I recently started my PhD (CSIC – Universidad Complutense de Madrid) on the material culture and devotion to Saint Ursula in the late Middle Ages. I am particularly interested in the emotional uses of devotion during this period and how they affected the body and personal experience of the devotees. I also spent some time studying the phenomenology of emotions and the body at the Institute of Philosophy (CSIC), which allowed me to briefly step into other disciplines. That experience has helped me ask myself other questions—about the objects and texts I study, but also about the connections I find with other time periods, which always surprise and intrigue me
