Las imágenes que obtiene el monitor de extinción de la Universidad
Complutense de Madrid AstMon-UCM ya pueden ser vistas casi en directo
a través de la página web Cielos de Madrid. La imagen que se muestra
corresponde a una noche despejada de noviembre de 2010.
Esta cámara CCD con óptica de ojo de pez, situada en el Observatorio UCM,
registra imágenes en varias bandas fotométricas y determina las constantes
de extinción atmosférica y elbrillo de fondo de cielo y permitirá a los
investigadores del Departamento de Astrofísica y CC. de la Atmósfera de
la UCM realizar estudios sobre la calidad astronómica del cielo de Madrid
y la evolución de la contaminación lumínica.
AstMon-UCM ha sido adquirido con fondos de ASTRID "Desarrollo de
instrumentación para grandes instalaciones astronómicas'' (ASTRID,
S-505/ESP-0361) que fue financiado por el IV PRICIT de la Comunidad de
Madrid y abarcó desde enero de 2006 hasta diciembre de 2009.
