The Sojitz Group (www.sojitz.com, revenues EUR 43.5 billion, market capitalization of EUR 1.55 billion, as of April 1, 2012), quoted on the Tokyo stock exchange and headquartered in Tokyo, is a functionally oriented general trading company with a worldwide network comprising over 500 group companies and operations in some 50 countries, employing more than 16,000. We run offices in many European capitals / business centers, incl. Madrid, Paris, London, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, etc. Our company is structured as a matrix organization into four divisions, covering five different geographies:

    • Machinery Division
    • Energy & Metal Division
    • Chemicals & Functional Materials Division
    • Consumer Lifestyle Business Division

    • The Americas
    • Europe, Russia & NIS
    • China
    • Asia & Oceania
    • Middle East & Africa

Düsseldorf is the regional headquarter of the Machinery Division (the three other business units also dispose of representatives), which cooperates with hi-tech companies in the following areas:

    • European SMEs/start-ups owning innovative patented/patent pending technologies from the following sectors: automotive (components/modules), robotics, maritime, aerospace/aeronautics, generation and storage of conventional & green energy, CleanTech, vessel construction, water purification. Military applications are not our focus as they require special permission from the Japanese government. Often, a military technology, however, can also be applied to civil use, where Sojitz would be keen to explore the business potential.
    • PATENTED technology and unique selling propositions (you need to be unique!)
    • You NEED a sales track record of at least 1 year
    • Ideally our partner lacks or has little presence in Latin America, Africa and Asia, especially Japan, where Sojitz would bring in its local distribution and contact network, as part of business development efforts.
    • In Europe, we run offices in major business capitals, where we also support our partners with sales activities

What does Sojitz offer? Apart from a global presence and local sales activities, we finance the purchase of products by certain customer (ie. companies sale to new customers via Sojitz), hedging the risk.

Should you wish to discuss trading opportunities with Sojitz, please feel free to contact me either through LinkedIn (www.linkedin.com/in/martinsupancic) or via email (supancic.martin@sky.sojitz.com).

    Best regards,
    Martin Supancic
