Viaje hacia el Sol con el cometa McNaught

Los cometas cautivan la imaginación, son verdaderos espectáculos en el cielo. Tanto por su forma como por su propia dinámica. Ahora tenemos la posibilidad de observar al cometa McNaught en su viaje hacia el Sol, incluso durante el día.
Este cometa, cuyo nombre oficial es C/2006 P1 (McNaught), es visible ahora justo antes de la salida del Sol, hacia el Este, o poco después de la puesta de Sol, hacia el Oeste. Siempre cerca del horizonte y cuando el cielo aparece despejado. Su brillo aparente está entre 0 y -1 magnitudes.

Enciendo el ordenador y leo un par de noticias sobre el cometa. En particular, las imágenes que tomará el satélite SOHO a partir del día 12 deberán ser espectaculares. Así que no puedo evitar añadir esta postdata y la foto con la ruta que presumiblemente seguirá el cometa en su aproximación al Sol, y el enlace correspondiente para aquellos que quieran seguir el evento.
Se espera que el cometa alcance una magnitud de -5, excepcionalmente brillante. Sin embargo, debido a su proximidad al Sol, no hay que mirar directamente ni utilizar telescopios o prismáticos, pues el riesgo de daños permanentes en la retina es muy alto.
