El 30 de noviembre de 2011 la Comisión Europea publicó sus Propuestas relativas a Horizon 2020, el futuro programa de la Unión Europea para la investigación y la innovación en el periodo 2014-2020. Estas Propuestas se tramitan en el Parlamento Europeo y en el Consejo, de acuerdo con el procedimiento legislativo ordinario establecido para su adopción.
