El lema “BiblioTEcuida”, elegido para festejar el Día de las Bibliotecas
Octubre es el mes señalado en el calendario para dar protagonismo a las bibliotecas. Acercar los libros cada vez más a los ciudadanos, pero también otras actividades que se organizan para que la sociedad sea más justa, esté mejor formada y contribuya a un pensamiento más universal. La institución que se encarga de este evento es la Dirección General del Libro y Fomento de la Lectura, a través de la Subdirección General de Coordinación Bibliotecaria. Como cada 24 de octubre, este año también se celebrará el Día de las Bibliotecas.
Desde el año 2019 se incorpora a la celebración el lema ‘Aptas para todos los públicos’, que estará presente en todas actividades que se pongan en marcha. Además, la celebración del Día de las Bibliotecas tiene desde ese momento un hilo conductor temático diferente cada año.

BiblioTEcuida
La edición de este año, bajo el lema “BiblioTEcuida”, se centra en destacar el papel de las bibliotecas de diferente tipología como espacios libres y abiertos que, a través de sus diversos servicios y recursos, se preocupan por atender las necesidades de sus usuarios. Las bibliotecas están abiertas a toda la ciudadanía y son un pilar fundamental al servicio de las comunidades a las que pertenecen.
Son muchas las vías a partir de las cuales las bibliotecas atienden y cuidan a los ciudadanos. La promoción de la lectura es la primera de ellas: las bibliotecas son espacios para la lectura. Una lectura que acompaña, que entretiene y que enriquece. Una lectura que cura: la lectura tiene un impacto directo tanto en el desarrollo y mantenimiento de las capacidades cognitivas como en el bienestar y la salud mental.
Las bibliotecas son un apoyo en el cuidado de todas las personas, por eso han hecho suya la idea de la Agenda 2030 de no dejar a nadie atrás. Para cuidar a las personas, desde las bibliotecas se programan actividades especiales de apoyo a la comunidad, creación colectiva, acción cultural, servicios a colectivos especiales, atención a la diversidad o acogida a refugiados, entre muchas otras.
Además, las bibliotecas cuidan tanto el acceso a la información como su veracidad, desempeñando un papel frente a los bulos y la desinformación. Por ello son un apoyo necesario para la formación, el aprendizaje y la investigación. También son una ayuda imprescindible para profesores, estudiantes e investigadores, asistiendo a la comunidad educativa y contribuyendo al fomento de la investigación científica. Por último, las bibliotecas también cuidan y protegen nuestro patrimonio documental para que podamos legarlo a las generaciones futuras.
