La editorial Los Libros de la Catarata y la Federación Española de Profesores de Matemáticas publica el libro número 28 de la colección Miradas Matemáticas. En Matemáticas y sus fronteras reseñamos esta nueva obra.
Este libro trata sobre aquellos números que presentan un particular interés en las matemáticas: la constante e, también conocida como constante de Napier o número de Euler, la proporción áurea, π, los números primos, como los de Mersenne y Fermat, etc. A veces denominados constantes matemáticas son, a diferencia de algunas constantes físicas, inamovibles en el tiempo. Estos números han sido identificados por los matemáticos a lo largo de los siglos, y estos han ido descubriendo sus propiedades. En esta obra se describe su historia y sus aplicaciones. Para ello se han elegido métodos, fórmulas y demostraciones de fácil comprensión, acompañadas de una amplia variedad de actividades e ilustraciones realizadas con GeoGebra, que pueden proponerse tanto dentro como fuera del aula de matemáticas.
Sin duda alguna, un libro que nos ayuda a refrescar los conocimientos que todos hemos adquirido en la escuela, pero que además nos abre nuevas perspectivas.
Sobre el autor
Agustín Carrillo de Albornoz Torres es natural de Alcalá la Real, Jaén. Es licenciado en Matemáticas por la Universidad de Granada y Catedrático de Educación Secundaria. Su labor profesional se ha desarrollado en distintos centros educativos de la provincia de Jaén. Agustín Carrillo es miembro de la Sociedad Andaluza de Educación Matemática THALES, de la cuál es Secretario de Administración y Tesorería; es además Secretario General de la Federación Española de Profesores de Matemáticas y Secretario General de la Federación Iberoamericana de Sociedades de Profesores de Matemáticas (FISEM). Desde el año 1984 en el que impartió el primer curso sobre uso de las TIC como recurso en el aula de matemáticas, se ha dedicado a promover el uso de las tecnologías a través de cursos de formación, tanto presenciales como virtuales, impartiendo conferencias en congresos nacionales e internacionales, con especial presencia en la mayoría de los países iberoamericanos. En 2009 participó en la creación del Instituto GeoGebra de Andalucía, del que actualmente es su director.
Sobre la colección
Recordamos que Miradas Matemáticas es una colección de libros que combinan la divulgación con la didáctica de las matemáticas. Está dirigida principalmente a docentes y estudiantes de secundaria y bachillerato, con el propósito de ofrecer contenidos de divulgación que aporten nuevas ideas y que permitan desarrollar materiales que acerquen las matemáticas al aula de una forma interesante y atractiva. Se busca así aproximar el mundo de la investigación y de la didáctica de las matemáticas, con una perspectiva histórica, relacionando sus aportaciones con otras ciencias y con los desarrollos tecnológicos. Con ello, se pretende contribuir a mejorar la educación de las matemáticas en el aula, fomentar las vocaciones científicas y abrir un diálogo entre los diferentes actores involucrados en la educación y divulgación de esta disciplina. Pero también todos aquellos interesados en profundizar en los conocimientos matemáticos encontrarán en Miradas Matemáticas contenidos interesantes y asequibles.
